Gold heads for longest stretch of weekly gains in nine months as euro rallies while Germany attempts to form a government.

Bullion for immediate delivery added 0.8% to $1,333.18/oz, the highest level since Sept. 15. This metal rose 0.9% this week to head for fifth straight weekly advance.

In other precious metals, silver rose 0.9% to $17.1424/oz; lost 0.5% this week. Platinum jumped 1.1% and heads for fifth weekly gain while palladium strengthened 0.3% to pare first weekly decline in five.
