Gold Near Lowest Level This Year on Growth Optimism

Gold traded near the lowest level this year as world equities held near a six-month high on renewed optimism about global growth after China™s economy unexpectedly held up in the first quarter.

Spot gold little changed at $1,276.72/oz at 11:12am in Singapore after dropping to $1,273.02 on Tuesday, lowest intraday level since Dec. 27.

Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index steady after +0.1% Tuesday. Yield on 10-year Treasuries rises to 2.6%, highest in almost a month.

Other precious metals: Spot silver steady. Platinum -0.1%.Palladium +0.1%.
