Gold Rises in Asia After Trump Signs Hong Kong Bill
Thursday, 28 November 2019 09:36 WIB | PRECIOUS METALS |SILVER Spot EmasEMASGOLD

Gold rose as investors weigh the prospect of rising tensions in U.S.-China relations.

President Donald Trump signed a bill into law that expresses U.S. support for Hong Kong protesters, a move that will strain relations with China and further complicate the president's effort to wind down his trade war with Beijing.

The legislation in support of the protesters requires annual reviews of Hong Kong's special trade status under American law -- and sanctions against any officials deemed responsible for human rights abuses or undermining the city's autonomy.

Spot gold +0.2% to $1,457.30/oz by 9:18am in Singapore after -0.5% on Weds. Spot palladium drops after hitting a record of $1,836.46/oz on Weds. Silver and platinum steady.
