Tokyo Stocks Open Higher Following Wall St Climb

Tokyo stocks opened higher on Monday, tracking rallies on Wall Street with all eyes on key events this week including a major speech by the US Federal Reserve chief. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was up 0.90 percent, or 182.81 points, at 20,601.62 in early trade, while the broader Topix index climbed 0.68 percent, or 10.17 points, to 1,495.46. Source : AFP

Hong Kong Stocks Rally At Open

Hong Kong stocks jumped more than one percent in the first few minutes of Monday's business, boosted by fresh hopes for trade talks between China and the United States. The Hang Seng Index climbed 1.01 percent, or 260.58 points, to 25,994.80 at the open. And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index added 0.41 percent, or 11.70 points, to 2,835.52, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, gained 1.10 percent, or 16.84 points, to 1,542.32. Oil Extends Gains Amid Saudi Output Pledge, Trade Deal Optimism

Oil extended a gain as Saudi Arabia pledged to deepen production cuts and U.S. President Donald Trump said he could extend a deadline for new tariffs on China.

Futures in New York added as much as 0.9 percent after a 1.3 percent increase Tuesday. Saudi Arabia will continue to curb output more than required by a December deal among top producers, Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih told the Financial Times. Trump signaled he may extend a March 1 deadline if the two sides are near an agreement, sending a conciliatory signal amid talks to resolve the trade war between the world™s two biggest economies.

WTI for March delivery gains as much as 50 cents to $53.60/bbl on Nymex, trades at $53.51/bbl at 9:21am in Tokyo. Contract rose 69 cents to $53.10 on Tuesday.

April Brent added 91 cents to $62.42/bbl on ICE Futures Europe exchange on Tuesday. Brent ended session at $8.95 premium to WTI for the same month.
