Gold futures gave up almost all of their earlier gains by Tuesday afternoon, though still marked the highest most-active contract settlement since August 2013. Tokyo's leading Nikkei stocks index opened marginally lower on Tuesday after a quiet Wall Street session with all eyes on a heavily anticipated US-China meeting at the Group of 20 summit later this week. U.S. stocks ended mostly lower on Monday, with only the blue-chip Dow managing to hold onto slight gains, as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East weighed on the oil sector. Oil is poised for a second weekly advance on growing optimism over a trade deal between the U.S. and China as investors assessed the OPEC+ coalition's output cuts against surging American supply.

WTI for April delivery trades at $56.91/bbl on Nymex, down 5c, at 9:13am in Tokyo. Contract -20c to $56.96 on Thursday.

April Brent fell 1c to $67.07/bbl on ICE Futures Europe exchange Thursday. Brent ended session at $10.11 premium to WTI for the same month.
