Oil prices eased on Monday amid persistent concerns about the global economic outlook and the impact on oil demand, while Russia again missed its target to cut oil output last month. Hong Kong: Stocks Rise in Opening Trade

Hong Kong stocks started Monday with small gains after China's top negotiator hailed "substantial progress" in pushing through a partial trade deal with the United States. The Hang Seng Index added 0.08 per cent, or 21.84 points, to 26,741.42. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.14 per cent, or 4.24 points, to 2,933.90 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, was marginally higher, gaining 0.63 points to 1,616.09. Tokyo Stocks Open Higher

Tokyo stocks opened higher on Monday after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's latest failure to break the Brexit deadlock, with eyes shifting to Japanese corporate earnings season starting this week. Oil Settles Lower, Shrugs Off Storm-Related Short-Term Cut to Gulf of Mexico Output

Oil futures settled lower on Thursday, shrugging off earlier gains even as a tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico cut oil output in the region by more than half.

The move follows a report Thursday, in which the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries forecast lower demand for its crude oil next year as rivals, including the U.S., lift production.

On Thursday, August West Texas Intermediate crude fell by 23 cents, or 0.4%, to settle at $60.20 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after trading as high as $60.94. It wrapped Wednesday at $60.43, the highest settlement for front-month WTI prices since May 22.

International benchmark September Brent lost 49 cents, or 0.7%, at $66.52 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe, falling back after rallying by 4.4% Wednesday to $67.01”the highest settlement since May 29.
