Stocks in Asia traded higher on Monday morning as investors shrug off concerns over the rising number of coronavirus cases stateside. The Nikkei 225 in Japan rose 1.34% in early trade as shares of conglomerate Softbank Group and robot maker Fanuc jumped more than 2% each. The Topix index also advanced 1.44%. South Korea™s Kospi gained 0.6%. Meanwhile, Australia™s S&P/ASX 200 added 1.44% as shares of major banks such as Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Westpac surged more than 2%...

Tokyo stocks opened higher on Monday, extending rallies on Wall Street on fresh hopes for coronavirus treatments. Hong Kong stocks rise at open

Hong Kong shares opened with gains Monday on fresh hopes for a coronavirus vaccine, while traders were also looking ahead to the start of the corporate earnings season. The Hang Seng Index rose 0.47 percent, or 121.39 points, to 25,848.80. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.12 percent, or 3.94 points, to 3,379.39, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange added 0.35 percent, or 7.80 points, to 2,258.81. Oil Prices Bounce as U.S. Intensifies Sanctions on Venezuela

Oil prices bounced slightly higher on Tuesday after the U.S. upped sanctions on Venezuela, offering some distraction from ongoing trade tensions which sent U.S. crude down 1.7% a day earlier.

New York-traded West Texas Intermediate crude futures gained 36 cents, or 0.7%, to $55.05 a barrel by 7:52 AM ET (11:52 GMT), while Brent crude futures, the benchmark for oil prices outside the U.S., rose 17 cents, or 0.3%, to $59.98.

U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order late Monday to declare a total economic embargo against Venezuela, freezing all of the government™s assets and prohibiting transactions with the country, unless specifically exempted.
