Dollar Skids as Treasury Yields Head Lower in Big Week For Central Bankers

The dollar headed sharply lower on Monday, tracking a continued decline in Treasury yields as traders looked ahead to the testimony from the new Federal Reserve boss for any hints on how many times U.S. interest rates will rise in 2018.

Meanwhile, the pound rallied after one of the most dovish Bank of England policy makers said U.K. interest rates may need to go up quicker than he initially expected.

The ICE U.S. Dollar Index fell 0.4% to 89.546, after a modest gain of around 0.9% last week.

The dollar™s biggest losses were coming against the British pound % which jumped to $1.4057 from $1.3969 late Friday in New York.

The euro rose to $1.2340 from $1.2286 late Wednesday in New York.

Against the Japanese yen, the dollar fell to ¥106.62, compared with ¥106.87 on Friday.
