Gold futures climbed on Thursday for a sixth consecutive session to log their highest settlement since February 2013. Oil prices rose on Thursday after the U.S. government reported a much smaller-than-anticipated rise in crude stocks, but gains were capped by worries about the spread of Coronavirus outside China. Gold prices steadied on Thursday in Asia as China said its cutting its benchmark lending rate to prop up the economy. Gold Futures for April delivery was little changed at $1,611.15 by 1:25 AM ET (05:25 GMT). On Thursday, the People™s Bank of China said its one-year loan prime rate (LPR) was lowered by 10 basis points to 4.05% from 4.15% at the previous monthly fixing. U.S. oil futures edged higher on Friday, but still marked their first weekly loss in three weeks as upbeat monthly U.S. jobs data failed to ease worries about a slowdown in energy demand.

August West Texas Intermediate oil rose 17 cents, or 0.3%, to settle at $57.51 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

It was up a second straight session, but posted a weekly loss of roughly 1.6%, following two consecutive weeks of gains.
