Salah satu pendiri Apple, Steve Wozniak, menutup akun Facebooknya, di tengah krisis privasi terburuk dalam sejarah yang mendera raksasa jejaring media sosial tersebut.

Dalam email kepada USA Today, Wozniak mengatakan Facebook menangguk banyak uang iklan dari rincian informasi pribadi yang diberikan oleh para penggunanya. Dia mengatakan "semua keuntungan dihasilkan dari informasi para pengguna, tapi pengguna tidak mendapatkan sama sekali keuntungan."

Wozniak mengatakan dia lebih memilih membayar Facebook.

"Apple menghasilkan uang dengan dari produk-produk yang bagus, bukan dari Anda," kata dia.Dalam wawancara Senin (9/4) malam di Philadelphia dengan Associated Press, Wozniak mengatakan dia telah beberapa waktu berpikir untuk menghapus akun Facebooknya dan lalu melaksanakan rencananya setelah beberapa teman dekatnya menghapus akun Facebook mereka minggu lalu.

"Ini adalah kemunafikan besar dengan tidak menghormati privasi saya ketika (CEO Facebook Mark) Zuckerberg membeli semua rumah di sekitar dia dan tanah-tanah di sekitar kediamannya di Hawaii untuk menjaga privasinya," kata Wozniak. "Dia tahu nilai privasi, tapi dia tidak menjaga privasi saya."
