Gold settles with a gain for the session and shorter week

Gold futures climbed on Thursday, also posting a gain for the holiday-shortened week, as concerns over the increase in COVID-19 cases in part of the world provided safe-haven support for the metal. Some of that support lacked in the U.S., where data showed better-than-expected jobs growth in June. "The employment numbers are spectacular but an 11% unemployment rate is still elevated," said Jeff Wright, executive vice president of GoldMining Inc. "COVID cases are back on rise and numerous...

Oil futures end higher, with U.S. prices at their highest since March

Oil futures settled higher on Thursday, buoyed by a hefty decline in last week's U.S. crude supplies and better-than-expected domestic jobs growth in June. August West Texas Intermediate oil rose 83 cents, or 2.1%, to settle at $40.65 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. That was the highest finish for a front-month contract since March 6, according to FactSet data. There will be no regular trading for Nymex oil futures Friday because of the Independence Day holiday. UN Human Rights Committee Condemns Human Rights Violations in North Korea
Friday, 15 November 2019 18:00 WIB | GLOBAL |Korea UtaraGlobal

The UN Human Rights Committee, Thursday (11/14), approved a resolution condemning human rights in North Korea that might be considered an opposition to humanity.

This decision was condemned by the North Korean Mission to the United Nations as a "politically motivated" and appropriate "engineering" decision.

Resolutions issued by the European Union and submitted by America as well as those given by the state, were also approved by the UN Human Rights Committee. This resolution will clearly be adopted by a compilation of 193 members of the assembly meeting next December.

The resolution condemns 'systematic, widespread and real-time violations of human rights,' including those violations which, according to a United Nations commission of inquiry, could be considered crimes against humanity.

The resolution refers to a number of violations, including torture, rape, public executions, expansion of the political prison camp system, and "total and very strict restrictions on freedom of thought, religion, expression and peaceful assembly."

North Korea's mission to the United Nations in asking for that response gave nothing but the most despicable false testimony, made by a handful of defectors involved themselves after making a defense to preserve their dirty lives.

"The human rights issues agreed in the resolution never existed and cannot be tolerated in our country, where dignity and independent human rights are strongly supported," the passage agreed with North Korea.
