"Gold prices have benefited from three main factors, including heightened investor appetite for safe haven...

Victim Virus Penetrates 1,000, China Dismissed 2 High Health Officials
Wednesday, 12 February 2020 11:29 WIB | GLOBAL |Global

While the total death toll from the corona virus exceeds 1,000, the two highest health officials in Hubei province, China, which is the epicenter of the outbreak, were dismissed from their posts.

Chinese state media reported on Tuesday (11/2) that Zhang Jin, chairman of the Communist Party's Hubei provincial health commission, and, Liu Yingzi, director of the commission, had moved from their posts.

The dismissal continued one day after 103 more deaths were carried out in Hubei province, where millions of people are still isolated and complain of food shortages. Nearly 43,000 cases in various parts of China have been confirmed by the central government.

President Xi Jinping reported on Monday a corona virus patient at a hospital in Beijing and called for "firmer measures" to deal with the outbreak, Chinese state television said.

On Monday (10/2), Director General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the transmission of the corona virus among people who had never been to China could be "a spark that is getting bigger."

The Central Bank of China has provided 43 billion dollars to help businesses involved in resolving the epidemic.

The number of deaths from the corona virus was higher than the outbreak of acute respiratory corruption (SARS) in 2002-2003, which killed 774 people and infected nearly 8,100 people in China and Hong Kong.
