Hong Kong stocks rose on Friday, capping a holiday-shortened trading week, as main indexes managed to recover much of the damage done during the recent rout. UK Police Investigating Package Sent to Harry and Meghan

London police say they are investigating a suspicious package that was sent to Prince Harry and his fiancee Meghan Markle. The Metropolitan Police force says "a package containing a substance" was delivered to St. James's Palace, where Harry has his office, on Feb. 12. It says the substance "was tested and confirmed as non-suspicious." The force said Thursday that detectives are investigating an offense of malicious communication in relation to the package. Gold was marginally lower Friday as it headed for its biggest weekly decline so far this year as the dollar stabilized. April gold fell 40 cents, or less than 0.1%, to $1,332.30 an ounce, and March silver lost 1 cent, or less than 0.1%, to $16.580 an ounce. Hong Kong stocks rose on Tuesday, tracking a global rebound, as some investors sought bargains following last week™s savage sell-off. At close of trade, the Hang Seng index was up 379.90 points or 1.29 percent at 29,839.53.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises index rose 0.88 percent to 12,004.51. The sub-index of the Hang Seng tracking energy shares rose 0.2 percent while the IT sector rose 2.96 percent, the financial sector was 1.38 percent higher and property sector rose 0.54 percent. The top gainer on Hang Seng was Sunny Optical Technology Group Co Ltd up 6.22 percent, while the biggest loser was Lenovo Group Ltd which was down 1.54 percent. China™s main Shanghai Composite index closed up 1 percent at 3,185.5964 points while its blue-chip CSI300 index ended up 1.19 percent.
