U.S. stocks posted solid gains Wednesday morning, after President Donald Trump said he may let a China trade-deal deadline œslide if the two sides were making enough progress.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 191 points, or 0.8%, to 25,617, while the S&P 500 index rose 16 points, or 0.6%, to 2,761.

The Nasdaq Composite climbed 34 points, or 0.5%, to 7,447. A finish above 7,431.50 would mark the end of a bear market for the tech-heavy index that began on Dec. 21.
