Hong Kong stocks recovered to close higher on Thursday after an early slump following hefty losses on Wall Street over fears of a global recession. The Hang Seng Index rose 0.76 percent or 193.18 points to end at 25,495.46. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.25 percent, or 6.89 points, to close at 2,815.80. China stocks ended at an over one-year high on Thursday, with the blue-chip index rising for a fourth straight week as investors cheered progress in trade talks and Beijing™s policy stimulus to bolster growth.

Chinese markets will be closed on Friday for a holiday.

The blue-chip CSI300 index rose 1.0 percent, to 4,062.23 points, while the Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.9 percent to 3,246.57 points.
