European Markets Open Lower as Investors Monitor US-China Trade Developments

European markets opened slightly lower Friday morning, as investors monitored the latest developments in the ongoing Sino-U.S. trade war.
The pan-European Stoxx 600 was down around 0.3% at 405.18shortly after the opening bell, with most sectors and major bourses in negative territory.
China's Commerce Ministry said Thursday that the U.S. and China had agreed to lift the tariffs imposed on one another during their trade conflict in phases.
A White House spokesperson later told Fox News that she was "very optimistic the world™s two largest economies would reach a trade deal soon.
