Gold Holds Near One-Month Low as Inflation in Focus

Gold held near the lowest in a month as investors awaited data on inflation later this week for signs that the Federal Reserve has a case for raising interest rates further. A Labor Department report on Friday showed producer prices in the U.S. rose the most since 2012 on broad gains in costs for goods and services. Consumer inflation probably rebounded in October after easing in September, according to analyst estimates before data due Wednesday. At its meeting last...

Yen Gains on Haven Demand as Longer Bonds Advance
Friday, 9 November 2018 15:53 WIB | CURRENCIES | Yen

Yen rises for the first time in three days as a decline in Asian shares boosts demand for haven assets. Longer-maturity bonds gain after the central bank refrained from reducing debt purchases.

USD/JPY falls 0.2% to 113.85, trimming this week's advance to 0.6%.

USD/JPY may test this year™s high of around 114.50 and head toward 115 if U.S. data improves, but investors will remain caution about the U.S.-China trade dispute before President Trump meets China™s Xi later this month.

Dollar was weighed down by exporter offers at 114.10 yen, while supported by macro and leveraged demand before larger bids for real-money accounts near 113.60, an Asia-based FX trader said.

JGB futures closed regular session unchanged at 150.69. Benchmark 10-year yields hold at 0.120%; 20-year yields drop 0.5bp to 0.660%.
