The number of new coronavirus cases in China's Hubei province rose Friday after two straight days of declines, but the increase was still the smallest since the end of January. The Hubei health commission reported 411 new cases Friday, up from Thursday's count of 349. It also reported 115 new deaths. Dollar steady near 2-week high in quiet Good Friday trading

The U.S. dollar is holding near a two-week high on Friday, on what should be a quiet session for currencies with most other major U.S. and global exchanges closed for the observance of Good Friday.

The ICE Dollar Index, a measure of the greenback™s strength against major trading rivals was last +0.40% at 97.352, down 0.1% since late Thursday. The index hit an intraday high at 97.43, its highest level since April 5, according to data from FactSet.

The British pound GBP/USD was oscillating either side of $1.30, last changing hands at $1.2997 compared to $1.2978 late on Thursday.

Elsewhere, the euro EUR/USD was marginally higher versus the dollar at $1.1244 and the Japanese yen USDJPY  was unchanged at ¥111.91.
