U.S. stocks climbed early Tuesday after lawmakers reached a tentative deal to prevent a government shutdown and optimism grew over a potential trade deal between the U.S. and China.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 190 points, or 0.8%, at 25,242, the S&P 500 index rose 0.5% to 2,724, while the Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 0.6% at 7,350. Shares of beauty products company Coty rose after JAB holdings announced its plans to commence a tender offer to acquire 150 million shares of the company at a $11.65 a share. Democratic and Republican lawmakers said late Monday that a deal has been reached to avert another damaging government shutdown, but President Donald Trump must approve of the deal which would fall short in providing a full $5.7 billion to fund his U.S.-Mexico border wall.
